Project: Pond Expansion
Client: Private
Location: Waterford, CA
Completion Date: January, 2022
Cal Underground was hired to expand an existing irrigation pond, increasing its capacity to store water for agricultural use. This project required detailed excavation, grading, and integration with the existing irrigation system to ensure that the pond could support the client’s growing water demands.
Site Assessment and Planning: Our team conducted a thorough site evaluation to understand the current pond’s structure, depth, and surrounding terrain. This assessment helped determine the best approach for expanding the pond while maintaining proper water flow and ensuring long-term durability.
Excavation and Expansion: We carefully excavated the area surrounding the pond to enlarge its footprint and increase depth, allowing for a significant boost in water storage capacity. Throughout the process, we ensured that excavation was performed in a controlled manner to avoid disruptions to the pond’s existing water and irrigation systems.
Grading and Soil Stabilization: Once the excavation was completed, the expanded pond area was graded to ensure proper water retention and flow. We also stabilized the surrounding soil to prevent erosion and promote long-term structural integrity. This step was crucial to ensuring the expanded pond would efficiently collect and store water.
System Integration and Final Adjustments: After the expansion, we integrated the larger pond into the existing irrigation system, ensuring smooth water flow and compatibility with the client’s irrigation infrastructure. Final adjustments were made to the overflow and drainage systems to handle the increased volume of water safely and effectively.
This expansion provided the client with increased irrigation capacity to support their agricultural operations. The project was completed on time, with a clean, efficient worksite and a focus on long-term functionality and water management.
